A big thank you to Sonja Vukojevich for coming in to share information and history from Macedonia. It was a part of our 'Our People' unit, finding out about our own class' heritage and culture. We really enjoyed hearing about Alexander the Great and the fact that Macedonia has no sea, only lakes! It was also great listening and dancing to a traditional Macedonian song, not to mention the yummy Macedonian treat you made for us! Thank you!

For those of you who are unable to visit our room, here are some photos of our latest artwork. Great effort team!Welcome back to Term Three! We have some amazing learning planned for this term, and we have already begun! Below are some of the children's versions of 'The three billy goats gruff'; a story from Norway. (Mr Bergersen's family originate from there) Mrs Bergersen is extremely proud of the perseverance and excellence shown in this writing from our 5 & 6 year olds! Such clever cookies! At the start, there was no grass. Then they had to cross the bridge and the troll came up on the bridge, and the big one bowled him over. Walter
Three Billy Goats Gruff ran out of grass. The little one crossed the bridge, clippy clop. But the troll tried to stop her. "Go over my bridge," said the troll, "because I'll eat you". "No," said Little Billy Goat. Shelby The Three Goats and The Troll The greedy goats ate the grass. They saw on the other hill there was more grass. The little goat came first, then the medium came second. The big one came last. Cooper Once upon a time, there were 3 billy goats and they ate all their grass and Big Billy Goat saw a bridge but there was a troll under the bridge. The troll eats people and goats that are going over the bridge. The troll pulls them down and eats them for lunch, morning tea and dinner. But Little Billy Goat didn't know and he raced down to the bridge and he went across the bridge. The troll pulled Little Billy Goat down and Little Billy Goat said, "Please don't eat me. My brother is bigger than me." Middle Billy Goat went across and the troll pulled him down and he said, "Don't eat me. I don't taste good. Eat my big brother. He is so big he could butt you off the bridge and into the river." Then big brother came. The troll tried to get Big Billy Goat. Then big goat butted the troll off the bridge and he fell into the river and he was never seen again. Lewis There were 3 billy goats on one side of the bridge. After a while, the grass was gone and there was no more grass. So then they saw a bridge to go over. But under the bridge there was a troll, so the Little Billy Goat went over first. But as soon as he got onto the bridge, the troll came and popped up out of the bridge and the little goat was so scared that he jumped up. In his squeaky voice, he said, "Don't eat me. Eat my big brother." So then he went over my bridge. Then the troll said, "Who's that trip, trapping over my bridge?" "It's just me," he said. So then the big brother came and the troll said, "Who's that trapping over my bridge?" Daddy goat came. The troll said, "I'm going to eat you for morning tea and lunch and for tea." Then the big daddy said, "Oh no you're not." "Oh yes I am." "Oh no you're not." Then the Daddy bunted him off into the river and he was never seen again. Ffin One day there were 3 billy goats. They ate all the grass and they saw a bridge. The little goat went first. Then the troll jumped up and the troll said to the little goat, "I'm going to eat you for my breakfast and for my lunch and my tea." "But wait, my middle brother is bigger than me." Middle brother walked to the bridge. Then the troll jumped up. Then the troll said to the goat, "I'm going to eat you for my breakfast and I'm going to eat you for lunch and I'm going to eat you for tea." "Wait, my big brother is coming." Then the troll saw the goat. Then the troll ran and the goat ran and the goat won. Luka Once upon a time, there lived 3 Billy Goats Gruff. They ran out of grass. They went over the bridge. Frankie One day, there lived three billy goats. There was a little sized one and a medium sized one and a big sized goat. One day the little billy goat crossed the bridge, but the troll popped up. "I am going to eat you for my breakfast, lunch and tea." "Oh please don't," said the little sized goat. "My big brother is much yummier than me," said the little sized goat. "Alright," said the troll and the little sized goat went to the other side of the bridge and enjoyed the grass on the other side. Luke The boys from Room 2 & 3 have loved designing, building and testing their marble tracks. It is fantastic to see them using the Parawai School values as they work together to overcome issues in the Technology process. Great result boys!!
We have loved getting our new i-pads into the classroom. We have been exploring some different apps that we can use in different areas of the curriculum. Pictured above is how we used them in maths time this week. It was great fun challenging each other with our basic fact knowledge.
Check out these amazing Marble Tracks that our Year 1, 2 & 3 girls made this term. So proud of their work!!! As they should be! This is no easy feat from concept to design to production!
In Room 2 we are starting to think about what learning is, why we learn, how we learn and how we know when we have learnt something.....Here are some of our first thoughts........
Why Learn? So we know stuff. So we get better at writing, reading, maths etc Why do we need to learn that? So I can teach my little sister or brother. So we can correct answers ourselves. Today we joined Room 1 to be a part of the 'Librarian Visit'. We learnt all about the Thames library, what is there, how we can borrow books and then she read us a story. Check out these photos! |
